APS high school students dominate honors from Alpha Kappa Alpha

by talkupaps

The Nu Lambda Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority has recently selected six out of eight honorees from Atlanta Public Schools at its 23rd Annual Pink Pearl Mother-Daughter Luncheon held April 17 at the Hyatt Regency. North Atlanta High student Sharlee Taylor was awarded $5,000 (the highest amount possible), while two of her North Atlanta classmates, Mandy Eidson and Dossé Via Trenou, earned $2,500 apiece. Grady High students Stephanie Styles and Erin Dabbs each were awarded $2,000, as was Melvin Carter of The New Schools at Carver.

The Nu Lambda Omega Chapter launches this event every year to highlight and bring honorary attention to women and women’s groups, those worthy of praise for their commitment to family and healthier communities, and high school seniors who need assistance with their post secondary education.
