by talkupaps

Hill-Hope Elementary School began a monthly “Professional Attire Day” on Wednesday, Jan. 27, in which students dress up in professional attire to support their future professional careers. The school will bring in several members of the community who will speak to the students about their own professional careers. The event takes place on the last Wednesday of every month.

“Our students need to see professional role models who can convey professionalism as well as share the impact that professional opportunities will have on the future while mentoring our students,” said Hill-Hope Principal Dr. Cassandra Mill-Ashley. “At Hill- Hope, every child is aware that they are being prepared to further their education at a university or college.

The first speaker was Taryn R. Taylor (pictured), attending physician in the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Taylor is also an assistant professor of both pediatrics and emergency medicine at Emory University. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as the American College of Emergency Physicians.
