Inman Middle School joins a growing list of schools in the APS system banding together to help provide relief for the victims of the Haiti earthquakes. Inman will provide “A Night of Jazz for Haiti” at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at the school’s gymnasium. Tickets are $5 in advance or $5 plus a medical supply donation at the door. Performing groups are still being finalized, but confirmed is the Inman Jazz Eagles Alumni Big Band. (Come back to this blog post over the next couple days; we’ll have more info soon!)
The school will also have a bake sale/concessions stand. The event is being produced in partnership with Cathedral of Faith COGIC Haiti Missions Team, a group that has been conducting missions work in Haiti for a few years. They will be taking supplies directly to the people of Haiti shortly following theconcert. All proceeds from the event will go directly to purchasing much-needed supplies and items for the Haiti people to be delivered by the mission’s team. Inman already initiated a penny drive and bake sale.
Hat tip to Inman Band Director Arneesa R. Woods and band parent Guy Seymour, who approached Woods after an honors assembly with the idea.
