You’ll be hearing a lot about Atlanta Public Schools’ facilities’ upgrades in the new year, which include new buildings for Young Middle School, the Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, and the annex for Sarah Smith Elementary (grades 3-5). It’s a very, very exciting time for APS as it continues to provide these improved facilities. Looking further into the future, check out plans for a comprehensive renovation of the Therrell Educational Compex, which includes schools for Health Sciences and Research; Law, Government and Public Policy; and Technology, Engineering, Math and Science. Capital improvements for the 2010-11 include: * Construction of a new three- level classroom building that will house three small schools that will accommodate 400 students each (total 1,200 student capacity) * Renovation of the existing auditorium, gymnasium and locker rooms * Construction of new practice gymnasium * New art and music rooms You can download the flyer here.
