Deerwood Academy readers get a little care from a bear

Deerwood Academy held a Beary Caring Book Drive as a school-wide community service project. Deerwood Academy is a candidate International Baccalaureate PYP School. As a part of the IB PYP curriculum, students focus on Learner Profile words that help to them to become well rounded individuals working to make the world a better place for all.

The IB Learner Profile word for December was “Caring.”  Students showed how much they “care” about others learning to read and having access to books by collecting more than 800 books for the book drive. The books will now be donated to local shelters, daycare centers, churches, and others in need of books.
