B.E.S.T. Academy and Burgess-Peterson Academy enjoyed a busy morning today as students, faculty and community partners collaborated on the new National Day of Service in commemoration of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. A camera crew from NBC News was on hand to capture the moment at B.E.S.T. as members of community partner the 100 Black Men of Atlanta paid one of its regular visits to the school — greeting schoolchildren and holding a morning program. (The NBC segment is scheduled to appear on tonight’s newscast.)
Meanwhile, over at Burgess-Peterson Academy, volunteers from Hands On Atlanta worked with students and faculty to paint murals and plant flowers and other plants while helping volunteer in the classrooms. Our own Scott C. King was on hand to capture both of these inspiring moments on a very inspirational day. And a busy one — principals spent part of yesterday and today at the CLL building for the principals’ luncheon!
