Since January, Harper-Archer Middle School’s eighth-graders have been working hard to improve their writing abilities and prepare for a school essay competition. Verna P. Colson, the school’s writing coach, made sure each received a thrilling compensation.
Teams A, B, and C competed in the essay contest with three students from Team A — Marvin Nash, Brionna Blair, and Miquan Cunningham — placing in the contest. However, Team B had 100 percent participation and were rewarded with a pizza party.
Colson, along with four other helpful co-workers, made sure all the the students were rewarded. They invited V-103 radio announcer Lil Bankhead, singer Lil Shun Hendrix and rap artist Young Dro to perform for students.
