For the first time in 50 years, Frederick Douglass High School has inducted a new class into the Astros Hall of Fame.
The 2026 Douglass High School Hall of Fame inductees include trailblazing officials, first-round draft picks, state champions, world champions, and more.
“We’re honoring some of our best athletes and coaches who have come out of Frederick Douglass High School,” Douglass High School athletic director Alana Allen said. “We have extraordinary history here at Frederick Douglass High School, and the people need to know about it. The whole community and the city of Atlanta need to know that greatness happens at Frederick Douglass High School.”
Super Bowl champion Jamal Lewis, Douglass High School’s first and only state basketball champions, and Shyronda Mifflin, the first woman from Douglass to play a professional sport were among the many honorees who came back to accept this honor in person.
“This is a school of excellence,” Lewis said. “This school has great tradition, and at the same time, there’s a lot of good people here, and they want the best for students. They just have to take advantage of it, and they can accomplish everything.”
